Resumo A população em situação de rua cresce constantemente, sendo composta por uma grande diversidade de pessoas que estão diariamente expostas às diversas formas de violência, são privadas de direitos fundamentais, não possuem privacidade, têm condições precárias de sono, alimentação e higiene, a maioria faz uso abusivo de álcool e outras drogas. Objetivo: Interpretar como é desenvolvido o cuidado ofertado à população em situação de rua frente ao uso abusivo de álcool e outras drogas. Método: estudo qualitativo, realizado no período de outubro de 2021 a fevereiro de 2022, a partir de 20 entrevistas com profissionais de diferentes serviços da rede de atenção à saúde e de assistência e desenvolvimento social de um interior paulista, por meio da análise temática, utilizando-se da ferramenta NVivo. Resultados: foram identificados os temas: a situação de viver na rua favorece o uso de álcool e outras drogas; incipiente efetivação da Rede de Atenção Psicossocial (RAPS); incipiente efetivação da Política de Redução de Danos e Influência do terceiro setor no cuidado à PSR. Considerações Finais: Evidenciam-se limites para a promoção do cuidado na perspectiva da atenção psicossocial, sendo que para avançar é necessário dar voz e considerar as especificidades da PSR, compreender suas concepções do processo de saúde-doença e suas trajetórias.

Abstract The Homeless people is constantly growing, being made up of a wide range of people who are daily exposed to different forms of violence, are deprived of fundamental rights, lack privacy, have precarious conditions of sleep, food and hygiene. Objective: To understand/interpret how the care offered to the homeless population is developed in relation to the abusive use of alcohol and other drugs. Method: qualitative study, carried out from October 2021 to February 2022, based on 20 interviews with professionals from different services in the health care and assistance and social development network in an interior of São Paulo, through thematic analysis, using the NVivo tool. Results: the themes were identified: the situation of living on the street favors the use of alcohol and other drugs; care proposals centered on abstinence; hospitalization and medicalization weaken the continuity of care; incipient implementation of the Policy of Harm Reduction and Influence of the third sector in the care of PSR. Conclusions: Limits are evident for the promotion of care from the perspective of psychosocial care, and to advance it is necessary to give voice and consider the specificities of HP, understand its conceptions of the health-disease process and its trajectories.

Resumo: A ABP vem sendo utilizada como método de aprendizagem no mundo todo, porém, no ensino da graduação em enfermagem ainda é pouco utilizada. Considera-se relevante a realização de estudos a partir das experiências de estudantes e egressos de um curso que se utiliza da mesma. Objetivo: Compreender a percepção de estudantes e egressos sobre a utilização da ABP no curso de graduação em enfermagem. Método: Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo pautado na modalidade compreensiva e interpretativa, fundamentada nos pressupostos da Hermenêutica-Dialética. Foi realizado a partir de quatro grupos focais com 17 estudantes e 16 egressos de uma instituição de ensino superior do interior do estado de São Paulo, que se utiliza da ABP na formação dos enfermeiros de forma remota. O convite para participar do estudo foi feito via e-mail, Whatsapp e Facebook, ocasião em que foram explicados os objetivos do estudo, verificando-se o interesse em participar. Resultados: A análise dos dados levou à elaboração de cinco categorias temáticas, sendo elas: sofrimento para se apropriar da lógica da aprendizagem ativa; aquisição de autonomia para busca contínua do conhecimento; estímulo ao raciocínio clínico; melhora das relações interpessoais e comunicação; e, por fim, articulação teórico-prática. Conclusões: Ao utilizar a APB, há uma aproximação com as orientações dadas pelas diretrizes curriculares para a formação do enfermeiro, promovendo a aquisição de autonomia para a busca contínua do conhecimento, a capacidade de comunicação e de relações interpessoais e o desenvolvimento do raciocínio clínico e do pensamento crítico, levando a uma prática contextualizada e ampliada. Ressalta-se, ainda, a potencialidade do estudo para a pesquisa qualitativa por utilizar-se de grupos focais online, superando, assim, os desafios da pesquisa qualitativa em ambientes virtuais.

Abstract: ABP has been used as a learning method all over the world, however, in undergraduate nursing education it is still little used. It is considered relevant to carry out studies based on students and graduates’ experiences of a degree course that use this method. Main Goal: To understand the perception of students and graduates about the use of PBL in the undergraduate nursing course. Method: This is a qualitative study guided by the comprehensive and interpretive modality, based on dialectical hermeneutics assumptions. The research was conducted from four focus groups with 17 students and 16 graduates from a higher education institution in the interior of the state of São Paulo that uses PBL remotely in nurses’ training. The invitation to participate in the study was made via email, WhatsApp and Facebook, when the analysis’ goals were explained and the interest in participating was verified. Results: Data analysis led to the elaboration of five thematic categories, namely: suffering to appropriate the logic of active learning; acquisition of autonomy for the continuous search for knowledge; stimulation of clinical reasoning; improved interpersonal relationships and communication; and finally, theoretical-practical articulation. Conclusions: When using the PBL, there is an approximation with the curricular guidelines for the nurses’ training, promoting the acquisition of autonomy for the continuous search for knowledge, the ability to communicate and interpersonal relationships, the development of clinical reasoning and critical thinking, leading to a contextualized and expanded practice. Furthermore, we emphasize the potential of the study for qualitative research, using online focus groups, thus overcoming the challenges of qualitative research in virtual environments.

Resumo: A População em Situação de Rua (PSR) apresentou significativo aumento nos centros das grandes cidades brasileiras desde a década de 90. Frente a diversidade dessa população, destacam-se os idosos em situação de rua; nestes evidencia-se extrema vulnerabilidade em saúde, sociais e legais. O processo de envelhecimento nas ruas pode ter como consequências sentimentos de tristeza, depressão e dificuldades para o autocuidado. Objetivo: Compreender as vivências dos idosos que vivem em situação de rua acerca dos principais fatos que marcaram suas vidas. Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo qualitativo na modalidade de história de vida, realizado a partir do relato de idosos que vivem em situação de rua em um município de médio porte do interior paulista. Resultados: Foram entrevistados oito idosos, sendo sete do sexo masculino e uma do sexo feminino. A partir dessas narrativas foi possível identificar as temáticas: Infância/adolescência marcada por condições de vida precárias; Presença de transtornos mentais, uso abusivo de álcool e drogas ilícitas; Vida permeada por perdas, hospitalizações e encarceramento e conflitos nas relações; Sentimentos e sensações de sofrimento; Negligência em relação ao cuidado em saúde. Conclusão: Depreende-se a necessidade de diminuir as vulnerabilidades a que está exposta a população idosa em situação de rua, bem como garantir-lhes uma vida digna com expectativas futuras por meio de programas e políticas públicas intersetoriais. O presente estudo mostra, portanto, a relevância da pesquisa qualitativa para revelar as necessidades de saúde de uma população específica e possibilitar reflexões a respeito da mesma.

Abstract: Since the 1990s, there has been a significant increase in the Homeless Population (PSR) in the centers of large Brazilian cities. Main Goal: To understand the experiences of the elderly living on the streets about the main facts that marked their lives. Methods: This is a qualitative study in the modality of life history carried out from the report of elderly people living on the streets in a medium-sized city in the interior of São Paulo. Results: Eight elderly people were interviewed, seven males and one female. It was identified in relation to the age group that all the elderly interviewed were in their sixties, one being 62 years old; two 64-year-olds; two aged 65; one 67-year-old and two 68-year-old. From the narratives of the homeless elderly, it was possible to observe an existence of intense suffering that began in childhood. It was possible to capture essentially that their stories were marked by suffering, losses, rejection and mistreatment, absence of affective bonds, lack of family support, in addition to being permeated by the use of illicit drugs, abusive use of alcohol, incarceration, hospitalization in a psychiatric hospital and informal work. Conclusion: It appears the need to reduce the vulnerabilities to which they are exposed, as well as guarantee them a dignified life with future expectations through intersectoral public programs and policies in the health area, social assistance, housing, work and education, in order to combat exclusion processes and meet the real needs of this population.

Resumo: A violência é um processo tão complexo na humanidade, que as intervenções educativas que abordam essa temática são imprescindíveis na busca de uma sociedade mais segura e justa. Objetivo: Analisar como vêm sendo realizados os processos educativos sobre a violência contra a pessoa idosa, a partir de uma revisão integrativa da literatura. Métodos: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura realizada nas bases de dados Web of Science, Scopus, Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS) e Medical Literature e Analysis and Retrieval System Online (Medline), com os descritores de assunto “idoso”, “violência”, “educação em saúde” e “adulto jovem”. Foram incluídos todos os idiomas inglês, português e espanhol e excluídos os de revisão da literatura e as reflexões teóricas. Foram identificados 1211 artigos; a pós retiradas as repetições e seguindo-se sucessivamente a leitura dos títulos, resumo e artigos na íntegra, foram selecionados 12 artigos que responderam ao propósito do estudo. Utilizou-se como ferramenta de análise qualitativa dos resultados o software NVIVO. Resultados: São utilizadas diferentes estratégias para realizar os processos educativos, incluindo a simulação, aulas didáticas, utilização de vídeos, palestras, treinamento online, aprendizagem a partir da prática profissional, oficina de trabalho e estudos de casos. ressaltando-se a tendência de utilizar mais de uma estrátegia. Conclusões: Diferentes estratégias educacionais foram utilizadas na abordagem da violência contra a pessoa idosa, destancando-se aquelas que buscam a proatividade e envolvimento efetivo dos educandos. Os estudos selecionados corroboram a importância do trabalho da temática com o público adulto jovem, destacando que a aquisição de conhecimento, as mudanças de percepção e atitude exigem intervenções específicas, complexas e com sucessivas aproximações.

Abstract: Violence is such a complex process in humanity that educational interventions that address this issue are essential in the search for a safer and fairer society. Main Goal: To analyze how the educational processes on violence against the elderly have been carried out, based on an integrative literature review. Methods: This is an integrative of literature review carried out at the Web of Science, Scopus, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences (LILACS) and Medical Literature and Analysis and Retrieval System Online (Medline) databases with the subject descriptors “elderly”, “violence”, “health education” and “young adult”. All English, Portuguese and Spanish languages were included, and those for literature review and theoretical reflections were excluded. We identified 1211 articles and after removing the repetitions and following successively the full reading of the titles, abstracts and articles, 12 articles that responded to the purpose of the study were selected. The NVIVO software was used as a tool for qualitative analysis of the results. Results: Different strategies are used to carry out the educational processes, including simulation, didactic classes, use of videos, lectures, online training, learning from professional practice, workshop and case studies, emphasizing the tendency to use more than one strategy. Conclusions: Different educational strategies were used to address violence against the elderly, highlighting those that seek proactivity and effective involvement of students. The selected studies corroborate the importance of working on the subject with young adults, highlighting that the acquisition of knowledge, changes in perception and attitude require specific, complex interventions with successive approximations.

Resumo Introdução: A inatividade física impacta negativamente a funcionalidade dos idosos durante o envelhecimento. Objetivo: Descrever o perfil de atividade e participação de idosos inativos fisicamente e investigar fatores associados. Métodos: Estudo transversal com idosos inativos fisicamente, ≥ 60 anos, ambos os sexos, boa função cognitiva e independentes na marcha. Foram investigados fatores pessoais, história clínica, histórico de quedas no último ano e identificação do perfil de atividade e participação. Foram realizados testes estatísticos não paramétricos (SPSS 20.0), considerando p < 0,05. Resultados: Os idosos (n = 36) apresentaram média de 72,5 anos (± 7,7). A maioria era mulher (78%), com escolaridade de um a quatro anos de estudo (69%), aposentados (72%), referindo episódios de queda (58%) e acometidos por duas a quatro comorbidades (53%). No perfil de atividades e participação, a maioria dos idosos inativos fisicamente apresentaram problema leve para os itens: engatinhar, ajoelhar-se, agachar-se, andar longas distâncias, andar sobre superfícies diferentes, andar desviando-se de obstáculos, subir e utilizar transporte público. Entretanto, ajoelhar-se, agachar-se, andar sobre superfícies diferentes e subir compreendem maiores percentuais de idosos que apresentaram algum problema. Idade avançada (p = 0,045), sexo feminino (p = 0,022), episódios de quedas (p = 0,037) e presença de comorbidades (p = 0,031) foram identificados como fatores que podem impactar na funcionalidade. Conclusão: Idosos inativos fisicamente apresentaram problema leve nos itens das atividades e participação que estão mais relacionados à força e ao andar. Idosos com mais de 70 anos, do sexo feminino, com presença de episódios de quedas e de comorbidades, apresentaram associação significativa com a funcionalidade reduzida ou prejudicada.

Abstract Introduction: Physical inactivity negatively impacts the functional status of the elderly during aging. Objective: To describe the activity and participation profile of physically inactive elderly and to investigate associated factors. Methods: A cross-sectional study with physically inactive elderly, aged ≥ 60 years, both sexes, with good cognitive function and independent gait. Personal factors, clinical history, history of falls in the last year, and identification of activity and participation profiles were investigated. Nonparametric statistical tests (SPSS 20.0) were performed, considering p < 0.05 significant. Results: The elderly (n = 36) had a mean age of 72.5 years (±7.7). Most were women (78%), with one to four years of education (69%), retired (72%), referring episodes of falling (58%) and affected by two to four comorbidities (53%). In the activities and participation profile, most of the physically inactive elderly presented mild problems for: crawling, kneeling, squatting, walking long distances, walking on different surfaces, walking around obstacles, climbing, and using public transportation. However, kneeling, squatting, walking on different surfaces, and climbing represented higher percentages of elderly who presented some problem. The advancement of age (p = 0.045), female sex (p = 0.022), episodes of falls (p = 0.037), and comorbidities (p = 0.031) were identified as factors that can impact functioning. Conclusion: The physically inactive elderly presented a mild problem in activities and participation items that are more related to strength and walking. Elderly aged over 70, female, with episodes of falls and comorbidities were significantly associated with reduced or impaired functioning.

Resumo: O presente artigo visa identificar, verificar e apreciar os documentos da Delegacia da Mulher (DDM) da Polícia Judiciária do Município de Marília-SP na perspectiva de um estudo transversal na modalidade quantitativa por meio da técnica de análise temática, realizado a partir de boletins de ocorrência (BO) de violência contra mulheres, com o intuito de revelar a magnitude da violência por uma abordagem qualitativa, contribuindo para o avanço na compreensão desse complexo fenômeno que carece de ações efetivas de saúde. A análise retratou fatores de vulnerabilidade às mulheres e as relações de desigualdade frente seus agressores, bem como os comportamentos coercitivos e de controle. As ameaças de morte ocorrem sob distintas condições e formas, as agressões físicas são degradantes, e ainda evidencia-se as agressões verbais, danos morais, intimidação, perseguição e injúrias. Violências que geram insegurança e medo nessas mulheres que buscam na ocorrência policial um direito que deveria ser irrevogável - a vida. Compreende-se, que é imprescindível a articulação de ações intersetoriais preventivas e de promoção em saúde com vistas ao rompimento do ciclo da violência.

Abstract: This article aims to identify, verify and examine the documents of the Women's Police Station (DDM) of the Judicial Police of Marilia city in the perspective of a cross-sectional study in the quantitative modality using the thematic analysis technique, carried outbased on police reports of violence against women (BO), in order to reveal the magnitude of violence through a qualitative approach, contributing to the advancement in the understanding of this complex phenomenon that lacks effective health interventions. The analysis portrayed women vulnerability factors and relationships of inequality across their attackers, as well as the coercive behaviors and control. Death threats occur under different conditions and forms, physical assaults are degrading, and verbal assaults, moral damage, intimidation, persecution and injuries are also evident. Violence that generates insecurity and fear in women who seek in the police report a right that should be irrevocable life. It is understood that it is essential to articulate preventive intersectorial actions and promotion of health in order to break the violence cycle.

RESUMO Considerável número de doenças que acometem a melancia (Citrullus lanatus) são causadas por patógenos habitantes do solo no Brasil e no mundo. O objetivo do presente trabalho foi identificar e quantificar a frequência de fungos fitopatógenos associados a "podridão de raízes e declínio de ramas" em melancia, presentes nas raízes de plantas daninhas nas principais áreas produtoras no estado do Rio Grande do Norte. Foram coletadas 10 amostras de raízes de espécies de plantas daninhas de maior prevalência em 16 áreas produtoras de melancia. As plantas foram identificadas e, calculada a respectiva frequência em campo. Foi realizado o isolamento fúngico das raízes, sendo posteriormente identificados os principais fungos associados ao declínio de ramas. Foram identificadas 13 espécies de plantas daninhas, pertencentes a nove famílias botânicas. As espécies de plantas daninhas que apresentaram as maiores frequências em campo foram Amaranthus spinosus (25,0%), Trianthema portulacastrum (18,8%), Commelina sp. (18,8%) e Boerhavia diffusa (12,5%). Das raízes das plantas daninhas que apresentaram maior frequência foram isolados os gêneros Macrophomina, Rhizoctonia e Monosporascus. O primeiro foi isolado de 12 espécies de plantas, o segundo de quatro espécies e o terceiro de duas espécies.

ABSTRACT Many watermelon (Citrullus lanatus) diseases are caused by soilborne pathogens in Brazil and worldwide. The goal of this study was to identify and quantify the frequency of phytopathogenic fungi associated with watermelon root rot and vine decline that were also present in the roots of weeds in the major watermelon production regions in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. We collected root samples from 10 of the most prevalent weed species in 16 watermelon producing areas. The plants were identified and their frequencies in the fields were calculated. The fungi found in the weed roots were isolated and the main genera associated with watermelon vine decline were identified. We identified 13 weed species belonging to nine botanical families. The weed species with the highest frequencies found in the field were Amaranthus spinosus (25.0%), Trianthema portulacastrum (18.8%), Commelina sp. (18.8%), and Boerhavia diffusa (12.5%). The fungi Macrophomina, Rhizoctonia, and Monosporascus were isolated from the roots of the weed plants. While Macrophomina was isolated from 12 different types of plants, Rhizoctonia and Monosporascus were isolated from four and two different plant species, respectively.

Resumo A combinação da localização da restauração, a preferência de mão do operador ao utilizar aparelhos fotopolimerizadores (AFP) com luz emitida por diodo (LED) e o formato do AFP podem afetar a quantidade de luz fornecida à restauração. O objetivo foi avaliar o efeito de operadores canhotos e destros, a posição do operador (dentista ou auxiliar), e o formato do AFP na irradiância, energia radiante e espectro de luz entregue ao mesmo dente posterior. Dois AFP foram testados: um com formato angulado, onda única Radii-Cal (SDI, Victoria, Australia) e um formato reto multi-pico Valo Cordless (Ultradent, South Jordan, UT, USA). Os valores de irradiância (mW/cm²), energia radiante (J/cm²) e espectro de luz foram medidos utilizando um sensor no segundo molar superior esquerdo. A irradiância e energia radiante foram analisados utilizando ANOVA 3 fatores seguido por teste de Tukey (a=0.05). O espectro de luz (nm) foi analisado de forma descritiva. A interação entre o formato do AFP, posição do operador e preferência de mão foram significativamente influentes na irradiância e energia radiante (P<0.001). Em todos os casos, Valo teve irradiância significativamente maior que Radii-Cal. A mão dominante e a posição do operador afetaram a irradiância e energia radiante com o Valo. Posição do operador e acesso afetou a irradiância e exposição radiante entregue ao segundo molar superior esquerdo. A irradiância e exposição radiante teve melhores resultados quando AFP foi utilizado com a mão direita pelo operador posicionado na cadeira do lado direito e mão esquerda do operador posicionado do lado esquerdo da cadeira. Estes resultados podem levar a uma melhor polimerização da resina composta.

Abstract The combination of the restoration location, the hand preference of the operator using the light-curing unit (LCU), and the design of the LCU all can have an impact on the amount of the light delivered to the restoration. To evaluate the effect of left-handed or right-handed users, the position of the operator (dentist or assistant), and the LCU design on the irradiance, radiant exposure and emission spectrum delivered to the same posterior tooth. Two light emitting diode (LED) LCUs were tested: an angulated monowave LCU Radii-Cal (SDI, Victoria, Australia) and a straight aligned multi-peak LCU Valo Cordless (Ultradent, South Jordan, UT, USA). The irradiance values (mW/cm2), radiant exposure (J/cm2) and emission spectrum were measured using a sensor in maxillary left second molar tooth. The irradiance and radiant exposure were analyzed using three-way ANOVA followed by Tukey test (a=0.05). The emission spectra (nm) were analyzed descriptively. The interaction between LCU design, operator position, and hand preference significantly influenced the irradiance and radiant exposure (P<0.001). In all cases, Valo delivered significantly higher irradiance than Radii-Cal. The handedness and the operator position affected the irradiance and radiant exposure delivered from Valo. Operator position and access affect the irradiance and radiant exposure delivered to the maxillary left second molar. The irradiance and radiant exposure can be greater when a right-hand operator is positioned on the right side of the chair and a left-hand operator is positioned on the left side of the chair. This may result in better resin composite polymerization.

Resumo Este estudo mediu a potência (mW), irradiância (mW/cm2) e espectro da luz (mW/cm2/nm) emitida por 22 fontes de luz (Alt Lux II, BioLux Standard, Bluephase G2, Curing Light XL 3000, Demetron LC, DX Turbo LED 1200, EC450, EC500, Emitter C, Emitter D, KON-LUX, LED 3M ESPE, Led Lux II, Optilight Color, Optilight Max, Optilux 501, Poly Wireless, Radii cal, Radii plus, TL-01, VALO Cordless) disponíveis comercialmente. A potência emitida pelas fontes de luz foi medida usando um medidor laboratorial de potencia com grade a laser. A área (cm²) da ponta ativa efetiva das fontes de luz foi medida com paquímetro digital e utilizada para calcular a irradiância emitida. O simulador de paciente-MARC (MARC - PS) com espectrómetro (USB4000, Ocean Optics) foi usado para medir a irradiância e o espectro de luz emitida por cada fonte de luz na região anterior e posterior. Esta medição foi repetida por três vezes em dois sensores localizados na região anterior e posterior da arcada dentária. Os dados de irradiância foram analisados utilizando análise de variância em dois fatores, e os dados de potência foram analisados com análise de variância em fator único seguido pelo teste de Tukey (a=0,05). As fontes de luz Valo, Bluephase G2, Radii Plus emitiram irradiância semelhante tanto na região anterior como posterior com valores superiores ao mínimo de 500 mW/cm2. Seis fontes de luz emitiram irradiância menor que o recomendado (500 mW/cm2) quando usadas na região posterior: Kon-lux, Altlux II, Biolux Standard TL-01, Optilux 501, DX Turbo LED 1200 e duas quando usadas na região anterior: Kon-lux e Altlux II LCUs. As fontes Bluephase G2, Optilight Max emitiram os maiores valores de potência e as fontes de luz Altlux II e Biolux Standard emitiram os menores valores de potência. O espectro de luz das fontes LED de espectro único variou de forma evidente entre as fontes. As fontes LED multi pico de espectro emitiram espectros de luz similar para ambos os sensores. A fotoativação na região posterior tende a reduzir substancialmente a irradiância da maioria das fontes de luzes testadas.

Abstract This study measured the radiant power (mW), irradiance (mW/cm2) and emission spectra (mW/cm2/nm) of 22 new, or almost new, light curing units (LCUs): - Alt Lux II, BioLux Standard, Bluephase G2, Curing Light XL 3000, Demetron LC, DX Turbo LED 1200, EC450, EC500, Emitter C, Emitter D, KON-LUX, LED 3M ESPE, Led Lux II, Optilight Color, Optilight Max, Optilux 501, Poly Wireless, Radii cal, Radii plus, TL-01, VALO Cordless. These LCUs were either monowave or multiple peak light emitting diode (LED) units or quartz-tungsten-halogen LCUs used in anterior and posterior teeth. The radiant power emitted by the LCUs was measured by a laboratory grade laser power meter. The tip area (cm²) of the LCUs was measured and used to calculate the irradiance from the measured radiant power source. The MARC-Patient Simulator (MARC-PS) with a laboratory grade spectrometer (USB4000, Ocean Optics) was used to measure the irradiance and emission spectrum from each LCU three times at the sensor located on the facial of the maxillary central incisors and then separately at the occlusal of a maxillary second molar. The minimum acceptable irradiance level was set as 500 mW/cm2. Irradiance data was analyzed using two-way ANOVA and the radiant power data was analyzed by one-way ANOVA followed by Tukey test (a=0.05). In general, the irradiance was reduced at the molar tooth for most LCUs. Only the Valo, Bluephase G2 and Radii Plus delivered an irradiance similar to the anterior and posterior sensors greater than 500 mW/cm2. KON-LUX, Altlux II, Biolux Standard, TL-01, Optilux 501, DX Turbo LED 1200 LCUs delivered lower irradiance values than the recommended one used in molar region, KON-LUX and Altlux II LCUs used at the maxillary incisors. Bluephase G2 and Optilight Max delivered the highest radiant power and KON-LUX, Altlux II and Biolux Standard delivered the lowest power. The emission spectrum from the various monowave LED LCUs varied greatly. The multi-peak LCUs delivered similar emission spectra to both sensors.

Resumo O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar os efeitos dos procedimentos de biópsia mamária sobre a função da glândula de caprinos submetidos à lactação induzida. Dez cabras Canindé com idade de cerca de 3 anos foram utilizadas e a lactação foi induzida pelo uso de estrógeno, progesterona e prednisolona. Exames ultrassonográficos da glândula mamária, ordenha e análise das propriedades físico-químicas do leite foram realizados imediatamente antes (0 h) e 24, 48 e 72 h após cada procedimento de biópsia. As biópsias cirúrgicas de glândula mamária foram obtidas aos dias 5 e 26 da lactação. Mesmo após o início do processo de secagem, todos os animais continuaram produzindo leite por cinco meses. Nenhuma anormalidade foi observada na aparência ultrassonográfica das glândulas biopsiadas. Todas as 20 biópsias foram realizadas com sucesso e nenhuma inflamação ou infecção foi observada. Com relação às propriedades físico-químicas e volumes de leite produzido, nenhuma diferença significativa (P > 0,05) foi observada entre a glândula direita e esquerda, nem comparando resultados do momento 0 com 24, 48 e 72 h para as glândulas biopsiadas. A biópsia mamária não induz severas mudanças na produção e nas propriedades físico-químicas do leite nem na aparência ultrassonográfica da glândula mamária de caprinos em lactação.

Abstract The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of mammary biopsy procedures on gland function of goats submitted to hormonal lactation. Ten female Caninde goats, at the age of around 3 years, were used, and lactation was induced by using estrogen, progesterone, and prednisolone. Ultrasonographic examinations of mammary gland, milking, and analysis of physicochemical properties of milk were performed immediately before (0 h) and 24, 48, and 72 h after each biopsy procedure. Surgical mammary gland biopsies were obtained at days 5 and 26 of the lactation. Even after drying initiation, all animals produced milk for five months. No abnormalities were observed on the ultrasonographic appearance of biopsied glands. All 20 biopsies were technically successful and any inflammation or infection was associated with biopsy procedures. Regarding the physicochemical properties and volumes of milk produced, no significant differences (P > 0.05) were observed between right and left glands nor in the comparison of the results from time 0 with 24, 48, and 72 h for biopsied teats. The mammary biopsy did not induce neither severe changes in production and physicochemical properties of the milk nor in ultrasonographic appearance of mammary gland of goats in hormonal lactation.

ABSTRACT: The extraction of essential oils obtained by the hydrodistillation of needles/twigs waste of Pinus taeda L. was optimized by applying response surface methodology (RSM), with 24 full factorial design, in order to improve oil essential production, and aggregate value to the production chain of pine wood. Through the model it was possible to ascertain the influence of the variables in the average amount of essential oil (0.1032 mL), being the variables analyzed: biomass - Bm (x1), extraction time - ET (x2), Bm:ET (x1x2) and sample size - SS: drying times - DT (x3x4). Only linear terms (biomass and extraction time) and your interaction demonstrated significant positive values (0.0344, 0.0206 and 0.0131). The major components of the essential oil identified by GC-MS were: β-phellandrene: (30.39 and 22.44%), tricyclene (26.14 and 20.46%), β-myrcene (14.32 and 11.50%), β-pinene (22.49 and 1.43%) and α-pinene (0.25 and 11.26%) in the years 2011 and 2012, respectively. Our results show that the essential oil obtained from P. taeda represents a way of using some of the waste generated by the timber industry. The process of obtaining doesn't require treatments such as controlled drying or size reduction of the sample, indicating that it can be used in an industrial scale.

O presente estudo teve por objetivo plotar os efeitos de externalidade de rede e de softwares superstars na visualização e análise de ecossistemas de negócios. O resultado foi possível por meio da coleta de resultado de vendas de jogos, a partir de um site da indústria, associando cada venda a um consumidor único e utilizando um software de visualização de redes. O produto final foi um gráfico que mostra o posicionamento estratégico de editores e plataformas, servindo como ferramenta estratégica para acadêmicos e profissionais. A abordagem é escalável para outras indústrias e pode ser usada para apoiar a análise de fusões, aquisições e alianças.

This study has the objective of plotting the effects of network externalities and superstar software for the visualization and analysis of industry ecosystems. The output is made possible by gathering sales from a tracking website, associating each sale to a single consumer and by using a network visualization software. The result is a graph that shows strategic positioning of publishers and platforms, serving as a strategic tool for both academics and professionals. The approach is scalable to other industries and can be used to support analysis on mergers, acquisitions and alliances.

Objetivou-se com este estudo avaliar os efeitos de diferentes estratégias nutricionais na recria e terminação sobre as características da carcaça e da carne de 24 bovinos mestiços com predominância Holandês, abatidos com 15 meses de idade e 395,00kg de peso vivo. Na fase de recria, os animais foram mantidos em pastagem de Brachiaria brizantha com dois níveis de suplementação energética em quantidade equivalente a 0,5 ou 1,0% do peso vivo. Posteriormente, os animais foram terminados em confinamento com dietas compostas por 50 ou 80% de concentrado. Constatou-se efeito significativo (P<0,05) do nível de concentrado na terminação sobre o rendimento de carcaça quente em favor do nível alto (50,16 vs 48,62%). O menor nível de suplementação na recria resultou em maior (P<0,05) percentual de gordura na carcaça (25,61 vs 23,39%), mas não influenciou os percentuais de músculos e ossos. O nível alto de suplementação na recria proporcionou carne mais macia, requerendo menor força de cisalhamento (4,72 vs 6,66kg cm-3) e de coloração vermelha mais clara (3,88 vs 2,89 pontos). O nível alimentar alto na recria mostrou-se mais atrativo por ter efeitos positivos sobre algumas características importantes da carcaça e da carne, notadamente a maciez.

This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of different nutritional strategies at growing and finishing phases on carcass and meat characteristics from 24 crossbred steers predominatly Holstein, slaughtered at 15 months of age and with 395.00kg of body weight. At the growing phase, the animals were maintained on Brachiaria brizantha pasture with two levels of supplementation in amounts equivalent to 0.5 or 1.0% of body weight. Subsequently, the animals were finished in feedlot with diets composed of 50 or 80% of concentrate. The high level of the concentrate at the finishing phase increased significantly (P<0.05) the hot carcass yield (50.16 vs. 48.62%). The lowest level of supplementation at the growing phase resulted in higher (P<0.05) percentage of carcass fat (25.61 vs. 23.39%) but it did not influence the percentage of muscle and bone. The high level of supplementation at the growing phase provided higher (p<0.05) meat tenderness, required less shear force (4.72 vs. 6.66kg cm-3) and lighter red meat (3.88 vs 2.89 points). The high feeding level during the growing phase was more interesting because it affected positively some important carcass and meat characteristics, especially tenderness.
